Cbana Labs has created a new adsorber geometry that provides a lower pressure drop and a much faster response. In previous attempts, preconcentrators (PCs) used packed beds of adsorbents, which required a much greater pressure drop and larger sample pump to consume more watts of energy. Further, peak tailing was observed due to dead spaces in the packed beds. Cbana Labs/UIUC’s new patent-pending posted design provides substantial surface area with negligible pressure drop, thus allowing a small pump to be used for gas sampling. The Cbana Labs PC is typically integrated with the Six-Port Microvalve to remove dead volume in sample collections and perform product sweeping to GC detectors.
