Company Overview

Cbana Labs, Inc. is developing integrated micro-gas chromatograph (micro-GC) analyzers to amplify the sensitivity and speed of how gases are sensed and measured. Micro-GCs have a variety of uses ranging from foodstuff testing to environmental monitoring, as well as homeland security, military and industrial applications. The company has been funded primarily through Federal Government grants from a variety of agencies including NASA, DARPA, the US Army, and EPA.

At the component level, Cbana has developed MEMS-based microvalves that operate in microseconds at high pressures, micro-preconcentrators with high selectivity and gain, special molecular absorbents, columns with high separation resolution, and a powerful micro flame ionization detector. These novel microdetection systems are based on the pioneering scientific research of Professors Rich Masel and Mark Shannon of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and have attracted more than $12 million in federal research funding.

Cbana Labs has enjoyed co-development relationships with a number of major commercial enterprises and is currently seeking partnerships for the continuing development, manufacture and distribution of its technologies for specific applications.
