Banasorb™
A Revolutionary Adsorbent for Pollutant Capture and Analysis
Description
Cbana Labs has developed a family of novel adsorbents (trade-named Banasorb™) that are built upon proprietary Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs). Cbana Labs’ MOFs are composed of metal ions, acting as coordination centers, which are linked together by a variety of polyatomic organic bridging ligands. The result is a fully customizable, thermally and mechanically stable three-dimensional nano-porous material that can be engineered to selectively adsorb species of interest. Furthermore, this crystalline molecular framework results in a capacity that is an order of magnitude better than adsorbents like granulated activated carbon (GAC). Previously, MOFs weren’t widely used because they were relatively unstable and synthesis was a long and costly process, often requiring a day or longer. Banasorb™ is both robust and water stable, and can be synthesized in as little as 25 seconds.
Advantages of Banasorbs™
- Record high adsorption capacity for many vapors, including: Toxic industrial chemicals (TICs), environment pollutants, chemical warfare agents (CWAs).
- Regeneration capability: Most VOCs can be thermally released from Banasorb at 100-200°C. Banasorb can then be regenerated for subsequent use.
- Stable in moist air: The materials have a long shelf life, exceeding three years.
- Thermally stable: They are thermally stable up to 350-400°C.
Products
- A Series of Banasorb™ Adsorbents as stand-alone products for environmental remediation.

- Banasorb™ Thermal Desorption Tubes for measuring and testing of harmful emissions. Cbana Labs is teaming with Camsco to produce Banasorb™ TD tubes that are compatible with different types of thermal desorption instruments.

- Banasorb™ Coatings on a variety of substrates such as screens, fibers, porous-layer open-tabular (PLOT) columns, for applications including protective clothing, filtration and chromatography.
